Amu Darya: water to share

One river. Four decisions. A year of consequences.

Explore how Qosh Tepa expansion, irrigation efficiency and negotiated withdrawal caps change the water left downstream. This is an annual teaching model, based on a preliminary assessment, not a forecast or an allocation agreement.

Teaching rule: set aside the environmental reserve first, then supply capped existing withdrawals, then Qosh Tepa. The rest continues downstream. Return flows are not modelled.

ANNUAL MODEL

Starting plans:

Where the water goes

billion m³/year

An annual allocation diagram, not a map or the geographical order of intakes. The reserve is shown separately from the downstream remainder.

Compare your plans

Save a plan before changing the scenario or a control. Compare both the water gained downstream and the reductions imposed on users.
